Trigger feminism
✨ Trigger Feminism ✨ is a thought-provoking project comprising a collection of 25 doormats, each adorned with words, icons, and a single sentence. Designed to provoke feminist sentiments in women and defensive reactions in many men. The project draws inspiration from Rebecca West's 1911 quote: "I am a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat", whilst using the 'carpet' as a medium which is an important carrier for Armenian culture. By blending icons and words, such as pairing the vagina symbol with 'cooking' to highlight that cooking is in fact a pre-installed skill in a vagina, or juxtaposing 'emasculate' with the euro icon to challenge the association between wealth and masculinity. The doormats invite a playful exploration of societal norms. The sentence, "How will these boys ever recover?", encapsulates the project's ironic and thought-provoking tone, further explored in the accompanying thesis, delving into the nuanced topics at hand.
